About

Lowell Miyagi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Utah, and he also holds an appointment in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Professor Miyagi uses high pressure and high temperature experimental techniques, particularly radial diffraction in the diamond anvil cell, to study the development of texture in minerals at deep Earth conditions, as well as in metals and related materials under compression.

Professor Miyagi's research contributes primarily to CDAC Science Thrust 2:  Plasticity, Strength and Deformation and Thrust 3:  Complex Materials.
