Jacob is interested in studying the effects of dense electronic excitation on transition metal ceramics and actinide bearing compounds such as UO2+x. The experimental techniques I use for characterizing materials subjected to dense electronic excitation include synchrotron X-ray diffraction, X-ray absorption, Raman spectroscopy, neutron total scattering, transmission electron microscopy, synchrotron infrared spectroscopy, and ion beam analysis methods.
