Cosmic Gober is a PhD student in the department of chemistry at UIC. He joined the department in the fall of 2023 under the guidance of Professor Micheal Trenary. His research focuses on the novel chemistry of transition metal diboride thin films (HfB 2 and ZrB 2 ). The properties of materials are probed by XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy), LEED (Low Energy Electron Diffraction), RAIRS (Reflection Absorption Infrared Spectroscopy), and STM (Scanning Tunneling Microscopy) under ultra-high vacuum conditions.
